A Nervous Wife and Six Thin Children

A collection of inherited short stories and archival photographs became a professionally published book. With the writing as the focus, the interior remained restrained, using classic typography, comfortable text pages and photographs selectively. For the “nice and clean” cover the client requested, I explored both quiet photographic treatments and more graphic options. The final design pairs a period photograph with bold typography and the warmth and texture of aged paper, connecting the new book to the era in which the stories were written.
